EMPOWERMENT THROUGH EDUCATION

Dr. Zakir Husain Foundation, Aligarh strives to emphasize the importance of education among poor families through sponsoring the education of children in those areas. ZHF supports these children by sponsoring their school fee and providing them free notebooks, textbooks and School Uniforms.

Enrollment
The current situation is an alarming danger signals for the future of India. 30 percent students dropouts after 15 years. For combating this situation, ZHF has been emphasizing the enrollment of children into regular schools for formal education. ZHF has been striving to increase the awareness that education is the birthright of every child.

SPECIAL FOCUS ON PRIMARY EDUCATION
ZHF stresses the importance of education for the girl child among poor families. ZHF has been sponsoring for girl children education. Presently ZHF has been sponsoring more than 50 children for primary education.

HEALTH EDUCATION
Health education is an essential tool of community health to inform and motivate people to adopt and maintain healthy practices and lifestyles. At present, about 4 million people a year die of tobacco-related diseases and current trends could result in 8.4 million annual deaths by the late 2020s.

To aware students, Dr. Zakir Hussain Foundation, Aligarh has arranged many DRAWING & PAINTING COMPETITIONS on the following themes

HEALTH AWARENESS

Dr. Zakir Husain Foundation, Aligarh has been running Charitable Clinics for poor & needy people and strives to emphasize the importance of health awareness among poor by arranging a series of Health Camps in different Below Poverty line Areas. ZHF has arranged;

• Free General Health camps
• Free Diarrhoea Awareness Camps with the slogan “GIFT A LIFE” through partial sponsorship of SBI.
• Blood Donation Camps for poor patients with the slogan “LETS MAKE A DIFFERENCE “
• Pulse Polio Camps
• Pregnant Ladies Check up Camps
• Vaccination camps etc.
• To increase awareness of the curability and preventability of certain diseases among the general public, ZHF has started DRUGS ADDICTION CAMPAIGN with the slogan “LIFE AT STAKE, STOP DRUG ADDICTION” to aware students and general public.

CREATION OF LIVELIHOOD OPTIONS
In majority of poor families in urban slums, the common factor is a large number of dependents on a single earning member, which does not fetch them adequate money. These families are generally affected with poverty, Dr. Zakir Husain Foundation, Aligarh has provided Free Life / Health Insurance to such families. The advantage of these insurance is, If any member (family consisting five to seven members) dies, the family will be benefited by Rs.35,000/- which is sufficient for them to start their life and if some one falls ill (chronic disease) Rs.15,000/- will be provided for his treatment and Rs.50/- per day will be given to that family for their daily needs.
